Giardino di Delizie is a Polish/Italian all-female ensemble specialising in Baroque music. The talented artists in the Giardino di Delizie ensemble play on period instruments that are copies of renowned luthiers. Depending on the repertoire, the ensemble regularly works with other professional musicians and performs in various different compositions.
Alongside their concert activities, the members of the Giardino di Delizie ensemble do research in musicology and the history of music embracing Roman music, the Polish repertoire, compositions of female musicians, and the activities of Italian composers in Poland. These studies aim to discover the works of forgotten authors and continue to explore the mutual interactions between Poland and Italy in the field of culture and music.
The concerts of Giardino di Delizie abound in sweet sounds and passages of Corelli’s Italian music, and blend with the energetic and brimming-with-life elements of Polish songs and dances. These incredibly intense and fascinating performances result from extensive historical research centred on Italian composers like Alessandro Stradella, Arcangelo Corelli, and Carlo Ambrogio Lonati, as well as Polish and Italian composers at the royal courts in Poland. The musical ensemble is based in Rome.
In 2017, Giardino di Delizie recorded their first album for the renowned classical music label Brilliant Classics. The album contains the never before recorded Trio Sonatas of Carlo Ambrogio Lonati.
Their broad programme offer includes duets, quartets, and larger ensembles.
